2012 AFL Debut
Originally from Sturt in South Australia, Jack has been in the AFL system from an early age representing SA in the under 16 championships and the under 18 championships as well as touring South Africa early in 2010 with the AIS/AFL Academy program.
The 192cm versatile utility, can play both as a medium forward and defender. His athleticism was on full display against Vic Country in the under 16 carnival & in particular was evident when he pulled down a ‘screamer’ to remember.
In 2010 Jack battled with a persistent quad injury to play two matches with Sturt U18s and one match at the 2010 NAB Under 18 Championships where he had 19 disposals, five marks and set up three goals against Victoria Metro.
With an amazing work ethic it was no wonder Kevin Sheedy was keen to snap Hombsch up to become the future of the new AFL franchise the Greater Western Sydney Giants. Despite making a strong impact at GWS, 2013 will see Jack return to his home state of South Australia, lining up for Port Adelaide. Jack is excited about the direction in which Port Adelaide is heading, and the opportunity to play on opposition tall forwards.
