Murray is a small inside midfielder who uses the football extremely well. Representing Western Australia in the NAB AFL U18 Championships this year, he managed to play four games where he averaged 20 disposals per game.

Known as a team oriented player, Murray links up well with his teammates with his pace out of the contest. Newman is seen as an inside player who loves to go in and win the contested football, but also has the ability to find space and finish off the hard work of his teammates.

Murray was the Eagles’ first pick in the 2011 draft having shown much promise as an on baller with an ability to run and use the ball quickly. In 2012 Murray managed to crack into the senior squad 4 times with a season high 13 disposals against Gold Coast in round 13. Murray needs to put in a hard pre season ensuring his body is match fit and can deal with the demands of professional football.
