Recruited form Bendigo U18s and having played his junior football in Echuca, Andrew is an exciting playmaker that the Blues will be building their hopes around for many years to come. He burst onto the AFL scene in round 5 2004 against the West Coast Eagles where he managed 26 possessions, 5 goal assists and an attempt at Mark of the Year. His sensational debut showed the AFL world that this boy was here to play.

Andrew has shown steady improvement since his debut having missed only a handful of games with the Blues. In 2005 he was given bigger roles, tagging some of the games best midfielders including the likes of Andrew McLeod and Chris Judd. Andrew took another step forward in his development in 2006 playing all 22 games for the blues and in 13 of those games he finished with 17 disposals or more.

In 2007, Andrew continued to improve, furthering his importance to the Carlton Football Club. He finished the season with 28 goals and amassed his highest total of possessions in a season. He also finished in the top 10 in the Best & Fairest.

Walker returned for the final seven games of 2008 after his season was ruined by a shoulder injury in the final practice match. Unfortunately for Walker, his recurring shoulder injury also threatened his 2009 season before it had even started, after he injured it for the Bullants in a VFL practice match. Returning back to the senior side just before Carlton’s finals campaign, Andrew was fortunate enough to play in their elimination final against the Lions.

Given Walker’s great skill, ability to win the ball and his exceptional mark for his size, the Blues will look forward to utilizing the midfielders’ skill and experience to march them into the finals once again.
