Shaun Grigg

D.O.B:
19 April 1988
Club:
Carlton
Honours:
2006 NAB AFL Draft Pick No. 19
2007 AFL debut

Originally from Redan Football Club via North Ballarat U18s, Shaun is a medium-sized player who was a quality junior midfielder in the TAC Cup. Shaun’s father, Peter was a champion rugby player in the 80s who represented the Australian Rugby Union side in 25 tests.
Shaun has great speed and showed outstanding pace at the NAB AFL Draft Camp where he recorded a time of 2.92sec for the 20m sprint.

In 2006 he had an excellent season with the North Ballarat Rebels and with Vic Country winning All-Australian U18 honours. His outstanding performances at representative levels saw him drafted to the Blues with their 3rd pick, No 19 overall.

Shaun managed to force his way into the senior side in 2007, playing 5 games and averaged 12 disposals per game with his best performance being in Round 22, against Melbourne, where he had 19 touches.

In 2008, Grigg won the past players’ encouragement award and appeared to have plenty of improvement in him. The onballer kicked his 2009 campaign off in fine style, but that good start turned out to be the precursor for a year of injury-related frustration in which he never really got a good run at senior football.

With the Blues now looking firmly ahead to 2010 and beyond, Grigg will hopefully get the opportunities he deserves to help the Blues make the final series once again.
