Tom was recruited to Essendon from Burnie, via Tasmania U18 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft. Tom is an aggressive player who attacks the ball hard, runs in straight lines and uses the ball well.

In 2006, Tom was a consistent performer in the NAB U18 Championships where he earned All-Australian selection and some of his test scores at the NAB AFL Draft Camp were in the highest echelon.

Tom made his AFL debut for the Essendon Football Club in 2007 against Geelong and tallied seven games by the end of the season.

After a tough 2008 season, Tom was drafted in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft to Richmond and managed to play 12 games during the 2009 season. The Tigers will be hoping that Tom can regain his best form and become an integral part of the young Tigers line-up.
